Get ready to experience the heart of Kentucky! This four-day Dash Getaways adventure combines two scenic train excursions, Kentucky horse country, a Kentucky distillery experience, breathtaking Cumberland Falls, Appalachian scenery, local craftsmanship and plenty of Kentucky history.

From the mountains and forests of southern Kentucky to the rolling horse farms of the Bluegrass region, this getaway offers a wonderful variety of experiences—and we're doing it during a beautiful time of year.

🚌 DAY 1 — THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21

Our Kentucky Adventure Begins!

Pack your bags, Dashers—we're heading south!

We'll depart from our Plymouth and South Bend pickup locations aboard our comfortable motorcoach and begin our journey into the Bluegrass State.

We'll make appropriate rest and meal stops along the way before arriving in Berea, Kentucky, which will serve as our home base for the next three nights.

After getting settled, we'll gather for our first included dinner and kick off our Kentucky getaway together.

🚂 DAY 2 — FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22

Big South Fork Scenic Railway • Appalachian Mountains • Cumberland Falls

After our included breakfast, we're off to Stearns, Kentucky, for one of the signature experiences of our trip.

🚂 All Aboard the Big South Fork Scenic Railway!

We'll board the Big South Fork Scenic Railway for an unforgettable journey into Kentucky's rugged Appalachian country.

Our approximately 16-mile round-trip train excursion travels into the Daniel Boone National Forest and Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery, lush vegetation and mountain streams.

The railway descends approximately 600 feet into the gorge, giving us a wonderful perspective on this beautiful part of Kentucky.

🥪 A Coal Miner's Lunch

We're making lunch part of the experience!

An included “Coal Miner's Lunch Bag” will be provided during our Big South Fork railway adventure.

💦 Cumberland Falls State Park

After our train ride, we'll continue to beautiful Cumberland Falls State Park for a guided visit.

Our guide will introduce us to the park, including a short walk to magnificent Cumberland Falls.

One of the largest waterfalls in the region, Cumberland Falls is so impressive that it is often referred to as the:

“Niagara of the South.”

Be sure to have your camera ready!

After a full day of trains, mountains and waterfalls, we'll return to Berea and enjoy another included dinner.

🐎🥃🚂 DAY 3 — SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23

Kentucky Horse Country • Bourbon • Bluegrass Scenic Railroad

Today is going to showcase some of the things Kentucky is most famous for—horses, bourbon and beautiful Bluegrass countryside!

After our included breakfast, we'll make our way toward the Lexington area.

🐎 Kentucky Horse Park

Our first major experience is the famous Kentucky Horse Park.

Set on approximately 1,200 acres, this unique attraction celebrates Kentucky's incredible relationship with the horse.

The original itinerary describes an immersive experience featuring approximately 40 breeds of horses, along with museums, galleries, shows and demonstrations. Depending upon the day's operating schedule, attractions may include the Hall of Champions Show, Museum of the Horse, American Saddlebred Museum, Horse Drawn Tour and Big Barn.

This isn't simply a museum—it's an opportunity to experience Kentucky horse culture with your senses: seeing the horses, hearing the activity around the barns and getting an up-close look at the animals that have helped make Kentucky famous.

🥃 Kentucky Distillery Tour & Tasting

No Kentucky experience would be complete without learning about one of the state's most famous traditions.

We'll enjoy a Kentucky Distillery Tour & Tasting, where we'll discover more about Kentucky's bourbon-making heritage and enjoy a tasting experience.

🚂 Bluegrass Scenic Railroad

Then it's time to climb aboard our second train of the getaway!

The Bluegrass Scenic Railroad takes us through quintessential Kentucky countryside, passing farmland, cattle and fields as we travel through the Bluegrass region.

Keep an eye out for Kentucky's famous thoroughbred horse farms—we may see mares and foals grazing in the fields as we pass.

The train continues through dramatic limestone cuts toward the palisades of the Kentucky River.

The original itinerary also includes an opportunity to see and photograph Young's High Bridge, which dates to 1889.

After an incredible day experiencing Kentucky's horses, bourbon and railroads, we'll gather for another included dinner at an area restaurant.

🎨 DAY 4 — SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24

Kentucky Artisan Center • Journey Home

We'll enjoy our final included breakfast before checking out and beginning our journey home—but our Kentucky adventure isn't quite finished!

🎨 Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea

Our final attraction will be the Kentucky Artisan Center, where the emphasis is on products and craftsmanship from Kentucky.

We'll have an opportunity to browse the center's gallery exhibits and shopping areas featuring a wide range of works created by Kentucky artisans.

It's a chance to see unique craftsmanship, learn more about the artists and the materials they use, and perhaps find a special Kentucky-made treasure to bring home.

Following our visit, we'll board our motorcoach and begin our journey back toward South Bend and Plymouth, taking with us plenty of memories from our Kentucky Bluegrass adventure.
