Day 1 – Friday, June 11

Departure for Australia

Our Dash Getaways adventure begins as we depart the United States for Australia from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. (Flights not included in Price, See Flight Information below)

International flights cross the Pacific Ocean overnight, giving you time to relax, enjoy onboard entertainment, and begin adjusting to the time difference.

Meals: In-flight meals provided by airline

Day 2 – Saturday, June 12

Crossing the International Date Line

Today we continue our journey across the Pacific Ocean.

During our flight we cross the International Date Line, meaning we will lose a calendar day as we travel forward in time toward Australia.

Even though it feels like one long travel day, you’ll soon be arriving on the other side of the world for an unforgettable adventure.

Meals: In-flight meals provided by airline

Day 3 – Sunday, June 13

Arrival in Melbourne – Australia’s Cultural Capital

Most international flights into Melbourne arrive early in the morning.

After clearing customs, we will transfer to our hotel in the vibrant South Wharf district.

Since hotel rooms are typically not available until afternoon check-in time, the hotel will be happy to securely store our luggage while we explore the surrounding area.

Staying awake and active today will help your body adjust to the time change and reduce jet lag.

Explore Melbourne Near Our Hotel

Our hotel is located in one of Melbourne’s most exciting waterfront districts. Within walking distance you will find:

β€’ Southbank Promenade – lively riverside restaurants and street performers
β€’ Yarra River Walkway – beautiful waterfront views
β€’ DFO South Wharf Shopping District – great outlet shopping
β€’ Crown Entertainment Complex – restaurants, cafΓ©s, and shops
β€’ Federation Square – Melbourne’s cultural hub

Melbourne is often called Australia’s most European city, famous for its cafΓ© culture, street art, hidden laneways, and world-class dining scene.

Take a stroll, grab a coffee, and enjoy your first taste of Australia.

🏨 Hotel: Pan Pacific Melbourne
Located on the Yarra River waterfront in the lively South Wharf district, the Pan Pacific offers modern luxury accommodations with stunning views of the river and city skyline. The hotel sits next to the Melbourne Convention Centre and is within walking distance of many of the city’s top restaurants, cafΓ©s, and attractions.

Meals: On Our Own

Day 4 – Monday, June 14

The Legendary Great Ocean Road

Today we travel along one of the most scenic coastal drives on Earth β€” the Great Ocean Road.

Built by returning soldiers after World War I, this breathtaking route winds along dramatic cliffs overlooking the powerful Southern Ocean.

As we travel along the coastline, you will see towering limestone formations known as the Twelve Apostles, which rise dramatically from the ocean waves. These natural rock stacks were formed over millions of years as wind and waves carved the coastline.

We will also visit Loch Ard Gorge, named after a famous 19th-century shipwreck that tells the story of survival along this rugged coast.

Throughout the day we may encounter wildlife such as koalas resting in eucalyptus trees, kangaroos grazing in fields, and colorful native birds.

This unforgettable journey showcases some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia.

🏨 Hotel: Pan Pacific Melbourne
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 5 – Tuesday, June 15

Melbourne Laneways & Hidden Treasures

Today we experience Melbourne the way locals do β€” wandering its famous laneways and historic arcades.

These charming narrow streets date back to the Victorian gold rush era of the 1800s and are now filled with artisan shops, coffee houses, and incredible street art.

Melbourne is widely considered the coffee capital of Australia, and its cafΓ© culture rivals that of Europe.

During our guided exploration we will enjoy:

β€’ Chocolate tastings at a local chocolatier
β€’ Hidden boutiques and artisan shops
β€’ Street art and historic architecture
β€’ A delicious lunch with wine or beer

The afternoon is free for exploring museums, shopping, or relaxing at a sidewalk cafΓ©.
